Offset grind a 3.50" or a 3.48" crank, stock or otherwise. The rod mains end up at 2.00" thou. Were currently running one, like it alot.

I believe there were some crank MFG's that used to make them but not sure any more. 3.625" took over pretty much i think.

do you have to run a special piston with that crank?

I have heard these are the best for Hobby Stock Motors.

Yes, with a 6" rod the compression height is 1.227 or something like that.

If it were me, i would like to build this stroke in a 400 block, unshroud the valves and see what it will do. We got one in a 350 block now and really like it, its like having a really torquer 355, mid range power is amazing.

Our engine guy / friend raced late models sprinter's and top fuel drag's all thru the 70's and 80's and he builds engines for his son. He told us that this was his favorite combonation that he ran all thru his racing days. Thats the only real reason we built it, plus we got a sweet deal on the crank. So far were more than please with it.

I know as well that alot of engine builders like the 5/8ths strokes as well, 3.625" i hear alot of good things about those as well, but they all use the bigeer bore.

Why are you destroking a 400? Is it to try and get more vacuum? Or do you just think that less cubes will pull better with that small carb?

Ran a 3.562 in my sprint. used a 5.7 rod initiallyand ran great. but chucked a rod through the block.. went to same crank and a 6" rod 1.25 piston and just let it come outa the block a bit...
had an issue in the rod cap area but it ran great before that happened... i'd recommend it any day.

small journals, more bearing speed, long rods for torque, bound to be lw pistons for it, just looking for any combo that will work better...got 4 400s laying around...need to do sumpn wif em!

Destroked 400's are great.
also clevite makes a bearing to go from 350 mains to 283 small jurnal, then you can get even lighter parts, which help to quicken revs.
Custom pistons run about 815+ with rings, this is a fully custom piston from wiseco, i think diamond and je are a little more. but any comp hieght you want, rings, pin dia.. stuff like that.
The destroked motors are very hard to beat in a mod, or slick track in about any car.
