I'm running a 168 toothe flew plate and was wantin to go to a 153 tooth flex plate do i have to change anything on the balance of my motor to make this work and if not what year car should i look for when gettin this flex plate

your ok as long as your 168 is internally balanced...the 153 was typicly found in passenger cars...you can still get a 153 externally balanced but you will most likely have to buy an aftermarket on of sorts

ok thanks the 168 i got on now has no weights on it so i'm guessing i will be good by puttin the 153 on then.

You'll need to change the starter to a straight across bolt pattern.

I have a mini starter on my car that has the dule bolt patterns. it was one thing i already new i would have to change this is also in my modified

go to parts store and get a fly wheel for a 67 chevelle with a 283..i just went through all of this..my pain is your gain....LOL

no need to spend money on that when my friend had 2 good 153 flex plates and he gave me one thanks for friends tat run modifieds also. but my next ? is can you get flew bolts to long and have it cause a knocking noise from were it's hittin on the back of the block

Yes, Be sure to get "Flexplate" bolts. Flywheel bolts are 1/4 longer and they may stickout the back of the flange.

Yes flex plate bolts,flywheel bolts on a flex plate will also take off the oil pan rear seal rear ledge(rear main cap).That would be the knocking you are refering to.
