I'm in need of a little advice. Running pretty much stock 461 heads on my 406. 750 Holley, Bowtie Victor Jr, 1 3/4 headers open. Looking to upgrade on a new set of heads. I seldom see 6000 rpm on this motor and am installing a new cam w/ 518 lift 240 dur and 106 lope sep., Are the 200 cc heads to large since I don't turn my motor over 6000 rpm? Looking at Dart 49cc/ Pro topline 50cc and Sportsman II 64 cc heads. Please let me know what you've ran in the past and how they worked if ya could. Thanks, Race

Ive ran 200 darts on a 400 and was very pleased with throttle response. If 6000 is your max rpm they would work ok, if you want to turn a bit more the 215's which I have also ran will work good too. Personally with a 400, id use the 215's. Just my opinion.

Thanks Driver. Anyone else? I would like some more input before the purchase because of the cost and make sure what I get will be a good setup. I'm pretty much a one man show and count on the forum to help, if possible. I'm currently 3rd in points in our Superstock class and just looking for a few more ponies. Thanks, Race

Go no less than a 215 cc head, maybe a 220 cc.

I run Dart Iron Eagle 215s on my Superstock under a Victor Jr. and a q-jet. Throttle response is fine.

I run Dart 215x49cc on my 406. I use wiseco flat tops with a 6" rod. Compression is at least 14.1 with a decked block. This motor has been very reliable and has almost 2 seasons on it!
