Running a quadrajet on a 355 with a .490 lift cam and pretty much stock heads...flat tops. I have 74's in it right now and this thing is loading up bad....it wont claer out till well over 3000-3500 rpm's. What would you guys put in it for jets? 72's? 68's? It hurt me bad tonight...I had other problems too but those ill get fixed but because of these other problems i had to slow down more then normal for the corners. It would load up in the corners and would not pull coming of...then you could feel it clear off and pull like mad. any ideas for jets?

What size are your primary rods, it is stamped really small on the side. That will have a pretty big affect on how rich it runs. Also make sure your power piston spring setup is correct. I run the lightest spring in the kit you can buy. If thats not right it will load up as well. I run 74's myself. IF I remember right you want about a 030-035 differance between the primary rods and jets.

Thanks Ryan....I'll check all that out. We dont run now for 2 weeks so I have some time to play with it...We also have access to the track anytime we want to go and practice so I'll be checking this out real soon so I can go practice and play with it. Thanks again.

Would a hotter running plug work to cure this problem? I run R45 somethings, ill have to check again what they are. Is the number or the letters at the back show the heat range?

Sorry, Danger, I didn't see this one till just now.
I would drop your jets to 72's, make sure you have no larger than a 45 primary rod, make sure your primary power piston spring isn't hanging up the plunger, double check that your secondary rods are not stuck open, pay REAL close attention to the secondary air flap spring tension, and double check that there's no delay in the accelerator pump shot when throttle first moves. Make sure all air bleeds stay clean (the holes next to the two skrews in the primary throat of the carb).
That'll get ya started, and if that don't fix it let me know...
