Last night after I pulled in to hit the scales, I was sitting at an Idle and the motor had a couple of "pings" or "Knocks", but not right in order... it went ping.............................ping..................................................ping and then never did it again... Motor ran 240 from 220 last week, I changed the timing at the shop without a light, went from 38, and wanted to take it down to 36 so just moved it myself without the light...
when i'd shut the car off after the races last night it would turn over the opposite way a couple times... My question is would this be ignition or internal? Motor ran 6900 RPM without missing a beat on the track, but then ticked those three times after the feature, not after the heat though. Motor had 40 PSI oil pressure after the race, 80 on the track racing. Any ideas?

If you haven't checked the timing with a light that would be where I would start.

Here is what I have come up with, with help from a few others...
#1... Timing not set with light, too retarded (kinda like me)
#2... My Dist is a Moroso HEI with light springs in it, which should start advancing around 1700 RPM. I was sitting there at an Idle at 1600-1750, so maybe the timing was jumping around
#3... Motor was running warm, along with running 89 Octane Pump Gas.

Solutions
#1... Don't be retarded like the timing, use a light
#2... Get the Idle back down to 1500
#3... With the timing corrected, it will not run warm but to be safe I'll start mixing 50/50 Cam2/Pump Gas.

There were no signs of pre-detonation on the plugs, but the plugs were nice and tan. Motor could have been a little richer, but they looked pretty decent. No leaks from the header's through the header gaskets.
