The car has a high end miss to it. It runs fine up until about 6000 rpm and then it picks up a miss that just occurs at random. I have a new MSD 6AL box, plugs, and wires. I'm using an old HEI distributer converted to work with the MSD box. What could be causing this?

You could check your coil, I use the same MSD box in mine & had to get a blaster coil to keep up with the voltage. You could also check your distributer spring weights, it may be over advancing. When you fit the MSD you will find the timing advanced even though you havn't mooved the distributer. Is this problem only since you fitted your MSD?
Also what have you set your plug gaps to.

It is a solid cam with good springs. It feels like the electricity just cuts in and out around 6000. I was wondering about using the HEI distributor with the MSD system. No springs, it is welded solid. Plug gaps at 40.
