Not long ago someone posted on here they had a rod twist in a motor and not break.

None of us could believe it.

Well I took apart a motor that was running really bad first time out, one burned piston, one flat cam lobe, 2 wasted rod brgs, and one rod twisted and bent. I started this thing and drove it in the shop, lol.

Ill take pics of the rod. Its a 5140 wheeler I beam, the whole thing must have been pretty hot and it must have twisted when the piston kissed the head from the eaten brg??

Never seen such a thing, crazy.

I have no clue of why it would twist, but I'd suggest getting a set of Scat or Eagle rods next time. What kind of crank and pistons were in the motor? Sounds like you had some dirt in the bearings when assembling and it ate your bearings. I had the same thing happen to me, but luckily I caught it before I even put the motor in the car.

Ran mustang 2.3 for 4 laps. Shootimg fire out the exhaust the last 2 laps. Number 1 piston came completely apart. Stock rods with arp bolts and polished. Pin stayed in rod, honed for full floating with teflon bushings. Twisted rod before punched cyclinder wall out. Did not break rod. BIGG C
