I'm putting a Rotating Assembly together for a friend using the Scat 6" Bushed I beam rods, and Speed Pro Pistons. The problem is that the pin fits VERY tight in the rod, and by tight I mean you can't push it through with your thumbs. I think I know the solution, I just wanted to know if you guys have had the same problems? My motor uses the exact same rods and pistons and the pins were very free. The rods and pistons in this motor are new.

Anyone have an actual thousandth measurement reccomendation for clearance on the pin? We used to run about .002 on the briggs motors I built, or to where you could put the pin in and push it through with a quick push and then it would move freely back and fourth.

I've used about half a dozen of the SCA-2ICR6000 cap screw bushed 6" rods with no problems what so ever..... Sounds like you may have gotten a bad set....

.0008" - .001" is the clearance your looking for.

Don't forget to check the side clearance on the bottom of the rods too, I've found they are way off on these rods.Hey Steve how did you like visiting back to your old stomping grounds over the weekend..

Hey autoshop,

I had a blast. It's always fun to go back and see everyone. Hopefully I can do it again in the near future.

I had the same problem, turned out to be the wrist pins.

I had the same problem,my engine builder had to hone all of them to size..he said for the price there's no way you are going to luck out and get them perfect out of the box...try and save money and it costs you.

I'm lucky to have the tools to correct it, but was just wondering if anyone else had the same thing happen.
