After breaking a few valve train parts i tore the motor down to clean the block and put new bearings...when i pulled the rod bearings they all had a funny wear to them. If you flattened the bearing it would look like a train track....about 1/8 wear then no wear for 1/8 then wear for 1/8 all the way around the bearing..on all rod bearings only? Why did they wear that way....the mains were fine?? I also noticed on the gear drive that the teath all had like 4 wear lines on each tooth???

You will generally see that kind of wear pattern on a rod that is "bell-mouthed", or tapered quite a bit. I'd have the big end's checked and see if that's the cause. If it is, then have them resized by someone who knows how to hone rod's and keep them straight. This is not a smart-*** comment, I simply see too many rod's that are tapered or severely bell mouthed by people who do not take the time to resize a rod correctly. Each of your rod's should measure the exact same within .0001" from each outside edge to the center. If they are Chinese rod's of some type, this is the most common thing that I find wrong with 90% of the one's I've seen (sloppy factory machine work).

They are the carrilo h beam rod....when i got them back from the shop last year i watched him hone they real quick....2 at a time just to cleam them up he said....i dont know jack about that stuff so off i went. If that is the case how bad is it to run them? I have about 12 races on the motor and none were wore real bad just the funny pattern? Thanks for the reply Steve!

i would not take the chance of running them again,if you get one sliver from the funny wear it will trash the hole thing.take steves advice and have them resized by someone not in a hurry or an established shop.

Not sure if train track was a good way to put it...the lines goe against the bearing NOT with that what you were thinking? They do not go around the bearing they are no lines going with the bearing? I might be able to get a pic of it. I was wondering about maybe the polish on the crank??? The crank was nitrated will that matter?
