ok, this is my first ford engine, I have a brand new ford 396, melling hv oil pump using 20-50 valvoline racing oil. when I start the engine it talkes a long time for oil pressure to raise but when it does it runs 65lbs of pressure. The guage constantly moves up from startup just seems slow to me, is that normal on a ford?

Do you have a large line o.p. gauge or the "standard"o.p. gauge?Smaller line longer wait on the gauge.

Windsor oil psi is usualy 60 cold 45 race. Bigger line will fix it. I use -4 an same weight oil

it could be the line size, the line that came with the guage was plastic so i went to the parts store and got a copper one and the copper inside diameter is smaller then the plastic. Once it gets going I run 65 lbs of oil pressure 45 on the track.

It's the line size. It just takes a while to get the pressure up the tiny diameter tubing.
