don't know bout with a 6 inch rod but i turn my 331 small journal to bout 7200 with a hyd cam, roller tip rockers, factory forged crank and factory rods, the rods are the better of the vette ones offered the tear drop ones i think, i just got it freshened after 2 seasons (40 or so races) i had 4 slightly bent intake valves and one bad lifter other than that it was fine, the thing still ran great at the end of last year. the valves prob got bent last summer when i went to a diff track with the wrong gear and turned it up a lil bit furter than usual.lol

my father ran themn alot in his late model days,he and don klein had one with a hank the crank,h-beams and ross pistons that you could turn in the 8000 range, they are made to turn alot of rpm, problem is you have to have the internals to crank it up that much.matter a fact we still have the shortblock and would sale it if someone was interested

We have a complete 331, Crower crank 12:1 pistons, 5.7 rods, full roller valve train, Brodix aluminum Heads, and victor Jr tall intake with oilpan. It was run 16 races in a late model on alcohol. We turned it 7200 and it would fly. It could turn more buy we just seemed happy there. I cannot remember the make of oilpan but it was about $800. We are asking $6000 for the motor. This is complete as run and could go right back into the car, it was run with synthetic oil. We also have the carb, spacer, enderly pump and mag for itif you are interested in those also. E-mail me at egoracing44@aol.com It is in Tampa Florida area but we travel the south east US racing so we could meet somewhere.

For $8000 it would be complete minus headers and air cleaner. It would include all above plus water pump, pulleys, BG regulator and fuel log.
