My engine rev's good with no load, however when pulling my car it has a miss around 4k and continues thru the higher r's.

Suggestions on where to start looking?

Do you run lakeside, and finished last in your heat the other night? sounded to me like mine do when the module goes out, we had similar problems with module going out. you may look into that.

that was me. Thanks, I think we've got a whole distributor to try so we may swap parts until we find the right one. Also a couple of my plugs looked funky so I'll swap them out as well.

If the distributor doesn't fix it, you may be floating the valves. I'm trying to remember if the carb problem we had two years ago showed up without a load. I don't think it did, but we never did find out what was wrong with that carb, we just replaced it.

Could be a bad plug whar. Oops, I mean "wire" My problems always seem to be wires, caps and rotors. Make sure you are getting good contact between the rotor and coil.

A friend of mine just went through the same thing, he changed just about everything. Distributor, plugs, wires, carb, fuel pump, even replaced the foam in the fuel cell. It ended up being the valve springs were weak. Replaced the valve springs, no more miss. I would definetly start with the ignition, but if you still have the miss, check the valve springs, make sure they're not too weak.

Hi Mikey, Check your valves, timing, and you can take your module into about any parts store and they can bench test it for you! I had a bad one a couple years ago! Here is something else - If you are running a Quadrajet you might want to make sure that the spring on the secondaries is adjusted properly. If the secondaries don't open it will do just as you describe. Also if your running a Quadrajet make sure that the divorced choke rod is removed! Been there done that! Do you know Eldon Sone from Lakeside? He would be a real good source of information too! I don't know much but I'm learning! See ya at the track Mikey!

Check ignition switch, I had same miss, and changed everything, and didnt fix it. A guy came over to me and said you change your ignition switch yet. i was like no, why? HE reached in and unhooked it from the panel, and the corrosion on the back of it caused the miss. I bought a 5 dollar switch and bam it was gone. It would only do it at like 4000 rpms and beyond

Changed module, rotor and plugs. Sorted the wires out so none were near each other to cross over and re-ground the engine in 3 places. Also had a burned up wire going to the starter, rubbed against the exhaust.

Changed all this and took her up and down the street and thru the gears. seems to be better, but the dogs and small children in the neighborhood will probably have nightmares for a week or two!

Thanks everyone! Kent and John, we gonna get this race in Friday or will mother nature win?

I'm not removing them, its my super speedway aero package that gives me such an advantage!

I guess if I'm the last one there with em I'll go ahead and cut em out but I'd wager the 15 or so other cars with em will just leave them in too. What are they going to do, send us all home!
