At what lift do you need to have long slots.I am building a back up motor and would like to leave it complete.

Hi, One thing to keep in mind is the type of rocker indicated on your cam card when you buy a cam. The measurements on the card are directly from measurements taken with the stated rocker. Just something for you to think about. I went back to 1.5" rockers with a cam I bought last year and have notice a real increase in performance because everything is working the way it was desined to work. Good luck!

I would not try anything over .525 with a long slot, at that point, the geometry is such that you would need to go to a different ratio rocker or rollers.

Are you saying with a 530 or 550 lift cam you should use a 1.6 ratio rocker? I had a guy tell me to run 150 push rods and 1.6 rockers, is this a good thing? The new cam I'm running now has a 504 lift. Thanks

The push rod length depends on valve train geometry. The 1.6 rockers will change the lift.To approx..537 on a .504 lift.Caculator for this is in the tool box.The valve train geometry needs to be right in order to keep the valve to be compressed straight and sqaure saves on the valve and valve guide,as per a valve train geometry check tool plastic can be bought at any race shop.Cheap easy to do.

Are 7/16 steel slotted rockers always long slot? We have to take our aluminum off and use steel and don't want to go back to 3/8 studs. Running a lift of.555 or so.
