Put in 400 this weekend, fired up, runs good; timing question, though. Running a sbc 400 damper (w/timing marks), using a timing pointer bolted to timing cover from an old 350. Any differences? Tried to advance it and it sounded WAY off, in comparison to where we had the old 355 set. Wondering if timing locations on a 400 damper would differ from a 350. Could be a dumb question, only one way to find out though. Thanks.

Chevy used three different timing pointer locations on the small block. The best way to know is to verify TDC with a piston stop and make your own marks. Balancners can be several degree's off as well.
