I'm new to racing, and I just fired my first new motor. After about five minutes of good running, it was smoking out the exhaust and breathers, and when I shut her down the smoke came out the carbuerator too. I'm thinking it was just because of the valve seals not quite being there yet, normal or no? I had great oil pressure and everything, no leaks, was running great...

Are the headers and breathers brand new?

no headers, exhaust manifolds... everything is new (or newly rebuilt). The smoke looks white to me, smells like oil smoke, that's why I'm assuming valve seals....

White smoke= coolant leak. try re-torquing the cylinder heads and intake.

Could be a un sealed intake pulling oil in.

Check the oil and water. Then fire her up and break it in. I usually run mine for 15 minutes at about 2400 rpms and then idle down to 1200- 1400 for 10- 15 minutes. Its gonna smoke some, but it should not be pouring out but a light, light white smoke is no problem if the rings aren't seated.

Im with dirtracer14 sounds like it is sucking oil out of the lifter valley. run it for a while the check the spark plug for oil on the threads. also spray carb cleaner in the oil fill tube on the valve covers. If it lugs down bottom of the intake is not sealed

I finally got around to pulling the plugs, and they look brown, coffee stain brown. It's dry and burnt on, I'm assuming I'm just running really rich, am I right?
