Is it the AC Delco R44 plugs that go on the 441 heads? If so is that the best make?

yep thats what i use...i don't like the 45's,thats a hot plug.
Be aware they are phasing out the odd plugs,my parts store is telling me that 46's are being superceded by the standard 45 and so on.

So you both run the 441 heads?

I found the R44's but they are not a stocked item at AC Delco stores, they have to order them from the warehouse.

I run double humps which take the same plug as the 441..actually i've been using a champion plug cause of the same problem you are having,i told myself i'd change to the AC'S when they got here but i've still got the champions in there...go figure

ya learn something new everyday. The 441 heads take the R45, the R45T will not work. The 441's take the larger plug that takes the 13/16 socket. The seat in the plug hole is different so I found out.
