Just wondering what are the cons of using a thicker head gasket to lower compression ratio to meet new rules? 351w .040 over KB flattops, 64cc windsor heads, I am at about 11-1 now, need to get it down to 9.5-1. Thanks
Jim

with a 64cc head and flat tops, you've got about 9.5:1 now...

That is what I originally thought, but when I figure it out on the compression ratio calculator in the tool box here, it says 11.18 to 1. That is without figuring in that my block is zero decked, and the heads are slightly milled. am I figuring something wrong here? 351w bored .040, 64cc heads. figuring .039 head gasket thichness.

Thicker gaskets are more prone to blowout.
