How low can you set total advance on a small block chevy?

I have too much bottom end to hook up on dry slick.

I usually run 36 total.

I asked our engine builder about that in our mod and he said you could pull a couple degrees pretty easy. More than that and it tended to richen up a little.

Check your chassis too.... it might not be able to hook the power up. Stack some lead in the trunk. I wouldn't reduce timing, but it will work.
