So I staggered into the junkyard today and got some truck exhaust manifolds for the 441's on my new motor. Brought them home wire brushed the heck out of them and painted them with some high temp paint and went to put them on and #@&^!%$@# they did not fit for some reason. The passenger side went on ok but the holes seemed about a 32nd too narrow but I forced it on. I go to the drivers side and the holes are about an 8th to 3/16 too narrow ?????? and the head exhaust holes and the exhaust manifold holes are not lined up, out about an 8th. Did I grab 305 exhaust manifols or do I need a particular type? Did 441's come on cars or trucks? Will truck exhaust manifolds fit 441's? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thansk.

You need some exhaust spreeders. You can get them at any parts store.

The warpage on these manifolds are typical, when I've reamed out a set I usaually take a die grinder and bevel the inside of the the port to make up for the warpage. The last set I just bought new ,they were for a truck with a vortec engine. just curious on the exhaust spreaders how do they work without cracking the casting? Jim

they will all interchange, but they will warp as stated before and can be used by using the spreader tools or elongating the holes, but they certaintly DONT all flow the same!

What are the best flowing manifolds? Someone told me you can get manifolds off of a newer motor that looks really funky but are legal and have 2 !/2 inch outlets. Is their such a thing out their? Also they told me they cost about 125 bucks used.
