Can anyone tell me which 305 head numbers are better to run in a pretty much stock 305 purestock class....601`s or 416`s. I heard that they are both very good but that the 416`s are the best head you can run (in a class that specifics casting #`s).

GM 305 CYLINDER HEAD NUMBERS ALLOWED

14010201 14014415 14014416
14014440
14020555 14022301 14022601
14022801
14039122 14039121 14101081 14102187
14102191 354434 358741 376450

Thanks for any info.

You are correct about the 416s....Those do flow better than the 601s.

Brezinski's website says the 450s are the ones to look for if you want 305 heads.

Thanks guys, I did some research and found that the 450`s are 60cc. I am thinking those would be the ones to run. Has anyone ran those heads and had good (or bad) luck?

Most purestock classes don't allow the Vortecs.

I am pretty sure they are casting number 520 "last 3 numbers" and he didn't post those in the choices.

I wish someone knew the flow numbers on the 305 Vortecs tho !!

Know I have a chance to buy a pair of "416"s (I was told that these were the HO 58cc heads) but I am still not sure if the "450"`s are bigger and better. Does anyone have a clue which is bigger?

Thanks

416s will work great on a 305.

The 416s came stock on Camaros & Monte Carlo SS cars.

if you get a deal on 416s I would buy them.

i ran a set of 416's pretty much stock i even kept the small valves in em. i liked them. For street stock with cast iron manifolds they are very good heads. i ran a 5.62 final on a 3/8 track turning 6200 or so with a crane saturday night special hydraulic cam, it was plenty of motor.
They are 58 CC heads.
