Ok to start with I am not the brightest when it comes to knowing about carbs, but here is my question, i am carburetor knowledge challenged.

Went to start the race car has alky 750 holley, let it idle to warm at the track and noticed that the right cyls 6 and 8 side header was starting to get red so I cut it off.

The fuel psi showed good so I am thinking carb since it was idiling I am not thinking jets.

The carb has been kept clean, although it did sit on the car a week prior to to taking it to the track, with fuel in the bowls.

Where should I check, my guess is trash somewhere in the carb because fuel psi. is good.

Please advise, Thanks,

Carb lean, running very lean or ignition retarded. Single plane I presume? I'd look to for trash or corrosion in the right rear hole and related idle circuit's. Clean it, try it agian.

Thanks, we did not run last night, did not want to risk it. I took off the back bowl and metering block and cleaned off everthing that I could see and sprayed WD40 thru every hole I could find.
Hopefully this does it I will run it again and watch the pipes closely.

I have had a set of heads that the seats weren't cut right so they leaked and turned the tubes red. Don't know if this is a new motor or not.

sounds like leaking exhaust valves letting fuel burn in the pipes. when u come off the turn and feed the throttle you start on the primeries but all of your rear pipes don't start glowing red because of that. all of the vanturies feed all of the cylinders because each cylinder ***** at a diffrent time. that vanturi doesn't stop & wait for those two cylinders to **** again.
