Our new rules allow us to run a stock cast iron intake with a 500 cfm intake versus highrise cast iron with 4 barrel. We can use a stock 4 barrel intake with an adapter for the two barrel. We can port and polish and modify the intake. Too what extent, from you 2 barrel racers can or should we do to get the max out of it? We can run one 1" spacer which would be our adapter. Other options is the IMCA stamped aluminum intake.

I would like to see a IMCA intake with a turtle installed for tuning or torque. You can increase the dividers lenght to gain torque on a small chevy. Be careful porting though. Runner shape and lenght are much better for fuel distribution that flow achieved from cross section volume. Get your self a good two barral adapter(not your local parts house)and if you hqave access to a bridgeport mill I would remove as much material from the plenum as feasable while leaving a hatch pattern on the plenum floor beneath the carburator. Weld in runner divider extensions that are radiused to the seam. Then you can take what's left and make a few different turtles to try. This will give you longer runners and a adjustable plenum volume.
