are rules are 2bl holley 500,stock cast iron intake and headers. heads are 461,492 ect' milled to about 12.1 comp. r.p.m to about 7000. question is ,can there be a gain in h.p. and torque by using a two into one exhaust on the end of the headers instead of just open headers?

Yes, but the cam, heads and intake need to be set up for tuning exhaust reversion.

We can't touch the heads or intake other than angle milling for compression.can use any solid lifter cam, what lobe sep.and duration do I need to make this work properly?

a 2 into 1 or an "X" pipe will help any combination.

Last year when I put a 3" y with 5" muffler I had a problem with reversion.Isky said they could grind a cam but I might not like it.The cure or bandaide was to put a 1 inch open spacer on it.

try a longer exhaust pipe between the merge and the muffler. if you use an "X" pipe with two mufflers there isn't a problem...
