Do I really need a conventional oil filter in my bomber motor? I see there are simple screens on the market. I just want to run an oil cooler and no filter. Am I Crazy?

yea 17, I already have that setup.

Does'nt all that filtering put an extra strain on the oil pump. Doesn't this OEM setup rob power?

I believe it may matter a lot on how often you plan on changing the oil and what type of oiling system you are using. I know for a fact that many using an o-berg type filter in a dry sump system that don't use a filter, but they are also changing oil every or every other night. not much opportunity for any or much dirt to be in a system like that not to mention the fact its usually a 10 to 12 qt. system. overall, run the filter, its scary cheap compared to the alternative. even with an oberg, run the filter, its just another way of maybe preventing a problem.
