Has anybody used an electric water pump drive kit on their dirt race car? This woul dbe the one with the external motor and drive belt. Does the electric motor turn fast enough for proper cooling or is this just a setup for drag racing?

No it would not work. It does not pump the volume needed, nor does it build the pressure needed to cool a circle track engine.

As a side note, we had a Mustang on the chassis dyno the other day. This car is a street/drag car, weekend warrior type of deal. Anyway, we did a back to back test with his electric pump drive, and then with his standard pump driven fan. The electric pump gained 1hp. We also bypassed the alternator from the system, and only gained 1hp as well.

Wouldn't the test show more of a gain on a engine with a much(near stock) lower VE?
