Which of these is the best engine?
406,415,427,434 reliability, cost of building, power, cons and pros??
I am going up in size and want to figure out what would be the best.
406 is easy and cheap to build but is the power way better with the others?

I have this same question. With 2004 being my rookie year, I noticed the guys that are consistently winning were running the 406. With my 355, I was always running in the middle of the pack, always behind the 406 guys, and always ahead of the guys with junk. My question is, what would you build for a street stock if you had an unlimited budget?

Anything roller is good, duh.

Unlimited budget!!! dang I need to get one of those !! LOL well heck if the guys ahead of you are running 406s then looks like they work. But if you have that unlimeted budget then there are tons of options that you can do. Heck they have 454 Small blocks out there now, all crazy stuff, and well with crazy prices
But I am in the same boat as you, running a 355 with the 406 guys in the front.

Depends on the block, Dart block i would go with a 415 or larger. Stock block 406 max.

The 415's are very popular around here, but you better have some killer rear grip a 415 is / or can be a stump puller out of the corners.

Also with 415's and larger you would also need a good crank, and rods. No foreign stuff.

Depends on the track or tracks you run..
Is the the track you run wet, tacky...more HP would be suitable. On a dry slick track
less HP is a must unless you can get it to the track
