As an update........
I pulled everything apart and and the 3 center mains were broke even more than initially what it looked like, one cap was in 4 pieces. anyway, and I know it doesn't matter a ton, but there are no visible to the eye cracks at all in the main webs anywhere I can see , doesnt show any stress or markings on the pad anywhere either. It was studded if that helps any? as a side question I have one set that uses just inner studs with bolts outer, while another set uses studs on all of them... I would assume the complete use of studs is better, but I am guessing?
I will obviously have the block magnafluxed and checked over and all. The other block will at minimum need a sleeve installed, just curious what average cost is expected on sleeving one of these?
And my final question is this.. obviously the broken caps ( stockers ) were insufficient, on the engine I used last year they have a set of caps that I don't believe are stock but I know they arent billet either. The markings on them are:
front: T25 with a triangle arrow forward
#2: T22 " "
#3: T43 " :"
#4: T23 " "
rear cap looks similar to stock with no markings....Anyone know what these are and can I switch these to the block I am running now and just line hone them or is that a no-no..??
Thanx all.

Bottom line is this, if you broke main caps and want to replace them go with the billet caps. You have to line hone the block any way you go, The question you should ask yourself is, is the block worth it or should I start over with a new block. sleepy

I did plan on running billet caps, unless these ones I have are somethin special and are sufficient. thats the main reason I asked what they were.
if the block isn't cracked then its well worth it, thats for sure.
I'll be runnin a diff. crank anyway, but I'll get that one ground an checked as well, I plan on doin a backup shortblock eventually.
be cool
