4.00" bore 3.48" stroke with 3.565 400 rods and 327 pistons. I had a racer tell me that it works really good on a two barrel application.

That would give you quench of .075 based on a 9.25 deck. Way to much. Compression is the only way to make power on two barrels.

Do you have to do any extra machine work to make it work? Would you have to cut the deck way down to get zero deck height?

I am really thinking about building this engine, i would like to know if all i have to do is buy the parts and put it together or if i have a bunch of machine work to pay for.
Thanks

i'd check to see what kind of deck height that brings the piston too, if it isn't too far from the top you can mill it down a little bit... if you really wanted to make it work, buy yourself a set of custom pistons...

Why would you go with shorter rods, that makes no sense. Just use 5.7 or 6 inch rods and get the proper piston.
