Is there any problem with putting a one piece seal crank in a two piece seal block using the adapter for this.

It works fine as long as it's installed correctly.

I don't see any possible way to put a new crank in the old block.

The one piece seal blocks have the big housing that bolts to the back of the block that the seal sits in & thats how they make the kit to use the old crank...the hole is just smaller in the housing when using the old crank in the new block.
