I know the concept of "claim", what I don't get is, how in the heck do you guys build motors and sell them for 10% or less than what you have in them? Most of us try to THINK we have enough $$$ to race, when really we probably have better things to do with our "disposable" income. Is it that you buy my motor and I buy his motor and he buys yours and we are all staying about even? What happens to an engine builder---he wants to have HIS mill under the hood, not one someone else put together! Some of you IMCA boys get me up to speed..I don't quite GET it!

99.785% of the time the claim is used for the wrong reason. it usually starts as "you took me out so i bought you" then the next week the claimee is p.oed so he buys a motor to get even but it ends up being a different guy than the one who claimed him. this gets the ball rolling.
the other senario is a guy who really cant afford the class that he is in so he claims so he can keep racing (theft in other words)
if you have a guy that is always winning and it seems like it's all motor then yea maybe the claim would work. but imho, if he's that fast he's set the bar and its up to you to bring your program up to his level.

stockcar5 is right on - either it's mis-used or NOT used at all... It's all fine but when it's needed everyone is so scared to claim even if they "know" someone is running an illegal engine they will let them get by with it by NOT claiming as to not be known as a "bad sport" or other names...

one of the tracks i run at has a 350.00 and swap claim. the claimed engine is marked and you have to run that engine on your next visit to that track.

now what if you run there all the time and do this, and the motor is illegal for the class, but you have to run it and the person you claimed can protest you the following week.

what do you do, cause he knows whats in there and knows that you have to run it b/c the won't let you in the gate without that maked motor in the car...

i heard a great idea this last weekend for claiming if u MUST claim u go up and claim them the same way u would in imca but u have to roll a 6 sided dice and if u land on 1-4 u get that position if u land on 5-6 then better luck next week that would be the sh** then just rig the dice to always land on 5 & 6 lol
