Any way to cheat a tech inspector when using an msd? I need to run an md with a 7500 rpm chip and need to turn 7800? Any way to do this with an msd?

not to help anyone cheat but.if you mount the msd box in the car within your reach and change the pill out to the one you need while in line ups and then change it back on your way to the tech area.put your pill in you pocket or wherever, if they pat you down and check your pockets you can always swallow it they'll never find it and you'll get it back sometime the next day.lol

Well my thought would be to pull the MSD box, disconnect the 'socket' for the external chip and put a chip internal to the box...

install 2 boxes.1 where they can see it just don't hook that one up put another one tucked away somewhere where they won't find it. hide the wiring and run it right alongside the non working box. you could run an extra big battery box and put the msd box in there. it would be covered and noone would ever think to look there plus the wiring would not look out of place.and i'm dissapointed i just wanted to see if someone would actually swallow one of the rev chips.lol

They only allow 1 msd box and must be in working order. Teck crew has the tool to test the box to make shure it is connected and working and also to test the chip by its self. All wires will have to be out in the open with no extra connectors or wires. Only 1 coil also. So sorry guys not going to get by this one.

Why not just install a switch for the chip. Then you could either limit the rpm at 7500 while the switch was on or have no rpm limit when the switch was in the off position.

How about running a non msd ignition which will allow higher rpms?

Has to be an msd box with a chip. 358 class may be open to any msd 6 box that uses a chip. They are talking about the 358 and Sportsman class will have to use a spec MSD box.

see i did not realize you were talking northeast mod. best you can hope for is boundless/dirt actually listens to the drivers and just relies on teching the cars next year instead of changing rules. there will be no way to get around the msd deal from talking to moshier it is going to be a sealed unit only available through DIRT inc.with a mark up of course, there is no way around this rule no way to cheat it up.i'll admit defeat on this one. the final DIRT meeting is dec 15 at weedsport and that is when the final decisin is to be made on rules changes for the sportsman/358 and pro stock classes.hopefully they will use the heads and listen to the drivers (yeah right) and not their wallets and leave the rules alone for now, just ENFORCE them for a change. no more 1/2 points 1/2 money or fix it next week penaltys either.if they weant to deter cheating they need to penalize like imca does with the mod class.i run pure stocks at fulton so it does not effect me YET but soon i believe that the pure stocks will become a DIRT sanctioned class and then the troop from south africa (boundless) will be in charge of our rules too. if it makes ya feel any better the money they make off of you on the msd box or the crate engine will go towards paying scott bloomiquist and steve kinsers point money next year.lol

just send your box to MSD and have them disconnect the part that works the rev control.Plug any chip in and it don't work.

MSD WILL NOT TOUCH THESE SPECIAL BOXES! MSD is supplying them to DIRT.

Mikee,
Is there some special reason to bypass the rules? I realize the optimum horsepower and torque of your engine might be reached at a higher rpm...7800. However, you should be able to change cams or other components to optimize your engine's potential at a lower rpm...and stay within DIRT's rules.

Is winning SO important that you feel the need to cheat to win? What is even more embarrassing is all of the suggestions offered to help you side-step the maximum RPM rule. I'm sure if you racers were beaten by someone cheating you would be howling the loudest!!

Regards,
Gerry Dedonis

KSGerry Just the point I was leading to. Best way to win is when you can do it with in the rules.

Do you really think no one will notice that you’re turning 300 rpm more then everyone else? You might get away with it if you ran at a track for the hearing impaired.

we have to run mufflers in all classes here so you would nopt neccessarily be able to hear the diff depending on the muffler used

I'm not trying to start anything here. But how many people have NEVER cheated or stretched the rules in their lifetime?? This question applies to every aspect of daily life, not just racing. I know that "cheating" is a whole moral issue, but I also know that most people who cheat never win. I also know that most winner's get accused of cheating, usually because they are outrunning guy's who are cheating So is cheating wrong? Yes it is. Do people cheat? Yes they do. Cheating can be looking at your classmates test that is sitting next to you, using tire softener when your not supposed to, having .001" more cam lift than the rules allow for, tripping your buddy so he look's like a dork when your both after the same chick, using oxygenated race gas when it's not legal (among other thing's), running 3 wheel brakes when your supposed to have all 4 operating, hidden brake bias adjuster's when you can't run them, and anything else that anyone can think of where people cheat every day.

I just think it's an interesting question. Maybe I'm feeling all philosophical tonight or something, I don't know. But my experience has always been to care less about who's cheating, and make my own program faster. My experience has also been that 300rpm is not going to make the difference between winning and losing, 99% of the time. So personally I'm all for pushing the gray area's of the rules to the maximum, without cheating of course

Steve ( I confess that I have cheated at Monopoly, Checkers, high school science test's, a few other non mentionable, and of course I use tire softener whenever I can get away with it)

P.S. This is a joke, I'm not thrashing anyones opinion on this subject. I just thought I's lighten up the conversation a little.

First off I have never been found illegal when mr dini tech'd me! Have i ever cheated? Yup and weather it was a big or small thing it dont matter now. The reason I asked about the msd's is beacuse I want to get as much info as possible on what can or cant be done. I think what Mr Hendrens stated is 100% correct
