We are running 3 speed transmission. Latley we just busted it up when driveshaft decided to exit car. It is a gm transmission and looks like it has some extra thick gears in it. I found a cheapy to run tonight but was wondering if it is a big advantage to take this cheapy to someone and have them redo it. The one I found has thinner gears in it but the shaft looks the same as the good one we broke.
Not sure what to exspect outta this cheapy trans-but doesn't the high gear run direct off the shaft going through the transmission meaning once we get in high gear that it should be the same as our old one??
Thanks for the info---Wheels

Yes high gear runs straight through. Late 50s early 60 had a light wt 3 speed. If it came out of a 6 cyl car the input shaft was smaller behind the splines...be sure you get the V8 one or it'll be short lived.
