Do any of you ever consider running more front weight percent than rear percent?
Especially if going to a high-banked momentum type of track?
Even if you haven't tried it, can you give me your opinion on how it might work?
I'm talking like 52-53 percent front weight percentage, and if doing so what spring combinations do you think might be most advantageous? Thanks

I personally have never had anything work very good with rear% less than 54% so a heavy front i do not think will help you at all.

With running more front percent that rear you will loose all of your forward bite. It doesn't matter if you are racing on a big track that you carry momentum or not. When you get on the throttle all you will do is light the rear tires up and the car will want to spin out in the turns because you won't have enough weight on the rear to keep it hooked to the track. The front tires should get enough traction to turn though! You might have to stiffen the front springs. Just my thoughts.

I'll bet you can get the front brakes to lock up good and plow into the wall very well!!!

UFO racing, I see your reply was your 173rd post, I hope the 172 prior to this one didn't waste peoples time......
I think the front percentage question is a valid one, I'm suprised no one else bothered with it. On an extremely high banked track, lateral transfer is much less, and drop in speed is much less, so if momentum is carried through the turn you would think less rear would be desirable, and the additional weight on the front would make the steering control much better,especially through traffic.
I want to try it, but was looking for some ideas on how to approach this setup as far as springs and shocks and pullbar angle,trailing links,etc. because I don't want to be completely out to lunch, where I would get outrun by people like UFO.....

First, we race on a high banked half mile and are running 60% rear. We have continually moved up from 55% for lack of forward bite. I can't imagine a track long enough and fast enough to warrant more fr than rear %. Even when this track is tacky and almost flat footed all the way around, we still use about 58%. Anything less will lessen our ability to keep up off the corners. So I guess it depends on the conditions of the track ur talking about.
