How much power does it rob from your engine by gearing through the transmission rather than using high gear and doing your gearing in the rearend only? I'm running on a limited budget and can't afford the aftermarket gears right now.

It does not cost that much power. The gears in the transmission are about 90% efficient where the rear end gears are about 85%. The problem is that the horse power capablity of the transmission is limited. The transmission better be a Muncie or a T10.

I'm using a ford three-speed toploader for the tranny. Thanks for your help.
