How do you guys go about setting a car up on a miswatered or patchy(tacky and slick) track? I have run a few of these and the setups are tough. How do you handle this situation?

depends on whats where, here recently our track has had some moisture in turns but goes slick comin off. Thats the hardest thing i've ever driven on because you can start gettin on gas and hookin car up middle off then all sudden track is dry and motor zings if you dont let off soon enough and your peddling it down straights

I have seen the tracks around here patchy in all areas. I think it is because of last minute or inconsistent watering really, but it makes it pretty tough sometimes to dial one in. Most of the time I think it is better to be a little loose than too tight. But usually, to me, it seems that the you do not have a little loose or a little tight, it is either tight or loose period. McCreary tires are really fun to try to get hooked up in that scenario. Do you think that it is better to try to nail the loose side or the tight side of the patches?

We fight that problem weekly. Set the car up for the wet (loose). Although the bite is gone on the dry, you can make your passes in the turns. Drive low and just wait for the guy in front of you to push to the top of the track. This is definetly a time when slower is faster.

we have that problem alot our track runs east to west and it gets dry and slick alot faster in 3-4 then 1-2 does most guys will set up to handle 3-4 better than 1-2

We set the car to run where it runs fastest, the wet spot or the dry spot. I've had tracks start out dry and the water come back from the tide coming back in and just set the car according. The hardest thing I've had to figure out is when somebody was going to harpoon me when my car comes to the track and I'm faster than them. I just love it when I'm faster than them because they just plain missed the track changes.
