Hey guys, pit crew member for an Throw'n Dirt E-mod (Rocket spin-off) racing in Western PA. We have a 377 with all the bells and whistles on a 1/3 mile track and are slow off the corners. The tires don't seem to be spinning, but we're getting beat off the corners by stock 400's. We have a 4 bar with a 300lb 5th coil. We run 175LR and 125RR for back springs. We usually lower the J bar one hole for the feature. Any suggestions on how we can get a bit quicker off the corner?

We run 6.20's...on 1/3 mile, we generally run around 7,000-7,200RPM's. Any suggestions would help. Thanks

I would try going up a gear and see wat that does.

6.20s on a 1/3 mile and only running 7000rpm WOW!!! we run 5.43s or 5.29 on 1/3 mile and we run 7000-7200rpm. Maybe thats your problem. Just running out of power to quick. try dropping gear, if your motor has that much power, Lug it and make it work

Thanks for the advice guys. We have a set of 5.67's and 5.83's. We'll give it a try and see what happens. Should we do anything to maybe break the tires loose? Any suspension changes that need to be changed by doing any of this?

Sounds like your rear springs are VERY light. On a small track, the car rolls over more, alot of guys are up to 225lbs LR, and 175lbs RR. On a small track, I would think a 125lb spring on the RR would be at coil bind...or close to it.

Also, going in a little deeper and adding some more rear brake will help you out. I don't know what the banking and turns are like, but adding some stagger will help also.

Just wanted to let everybody know that we made some changes last saturday and the car was fast. we decided to clamp up the LR side spring, shock and bars together. We had heard from another guy w/ the same chassis that it helped on our track. In the feature, we started 6th and finished 2nd. The car worked great. we decided after talking to a chassis man that we need to go heavier on the rear springs...THnaks for all the info

If you look at my reply above, I said that I thought your springs were light in the rear. Glad you got it fugured out.

June 29th Update on our luck this year. We have tweeked our gears a bit, went from 6.20's to 6.00's. The car is a rocket off the corners now and we're doing good. The car is actually starting to look comfy on the top of the track, something that we haven't been able to do for 2 years. We're gonna try to stiffen the springs a bit for next week. Does anybody have any suggestions for how to prepare the car for our feature that is after a 100 lap Late Model race? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
