ok guys, it wasn't my carb, my fuel pressure was to high, i am able to chaneg it on my regulator but i thought what i was running was a good pressure, i guess not, BUT now the carb guy is telling me i cannot run my fuel setup,

this is how i have my fuel system setup, it starts at the fuel cell then goes to the fule filter then to the mechanical fuel pump then to the fuel log and the regulator is on the back of the fuel log with the fuel cell return line off of the regulator,

the carb guy says i cannot run this, last year i didn't have the regulator on and the fuel pressure was VERY HIGH so i put it on and it was still a little high but thats what i was told to set it at, so i could just adjust the regulator for my desired fuel pressure just like last season, BUT the carb guy is telling me that won't work,

he told me i have 2 choices get a BG bypass plate or buy a belt drive fuel pump,

but what i was gonna do was buy a GOOD new regulator off of C&S or somewhere else, do you guys think my way will work, i don't understand why it wouldn't pressure is pressure no matter if its gas or aclohol as long as i have the correct pressure everything should be fine, correct,

also can someone give me soem GOOD regulators ideas i still need to buy one and i called C&S and the phone was busy ALL day,lol,

OH and he tried to tell me the regulator on the back of the log wouldn't work, WELL my fuel pressure fitting is before the regulator in the fuel log and the pressure went down last year when i put the regulator on,so,

There aint no problem with runnin the regulator on the return line. I've been doing it for 2 years now with no problems have it set for 8 lbs at full throttle.

here is the problem i had with that set up my pump was a procam 15 psi pump with a bg log that has the built in bypass. what i found was the pump pressure surged real bad at race rpm the pressure was set at 7 psi but at idle the pressure would surge from 3 to 14 psi with every stroke of the pump ran fine but loaded up real bad at idle floats couldn't handle the high spikes of pressure. this year i bought a belt drive pump and everything is working real nice 3 psi at idle and like 8-9 on the gas. so go with the bypass for 200bones or a belt drive pump you will be much happier. gl jlfastride.

I can tell ya the regulator off the back works just fine, most cars at are track run em that way. You can get a good one from speedway for around $60 that will work for ya. If you have the $$ go with belt drive ...if not the way you are going will work fine. I for one have never seen the BG bypass work very well at are track..most guys took em off after a few races. What kind of HP are you running? Some of the guys at are track run the 9 psi pump with NO return and have no probs but are running in the 450 hp range. What size return are you running back to the tank and what size to the pump?

i have never had it on the dyno but i am guessing 550+

I used to run the bypass plate, and will again in the future, as long as your pressure doesn't exceed 10 psi as you go up in RPM I would think it would work. Good Luck!!

Maybe this will help you. I have had fuel problems this season and some of last season. To start, if you are running alcohol, make sure that you have a number 10 supply line, from the bottom of the tank to the input of your pump. Then your return line needs to be a number 8 from the bypass and make sure that it is positioned in the bottom of the tank below the fuel level. This will keep you from ariating the fuel. You also need a number 8 vent. I run all C&S belt driven pump and bypass. I would recommend this set-up if you can afford it. Hope this helps.

on my car I am running the full bg set up it has worked good for 2year now no probs yet

Fridge, I run the exact sme thing that you are running. I run the BG diaphragm by-pass on the back of my log. Since you are running the mechanical pump, you would need to use the version without the idle bypass jet in it(the one with the jet is black and the one without is red). These work just fine with a mech. pump. I run mine at 10 lbs. pressure and have no trouble. Give Randy Harrison or Art Jeffries a call at RaceMart in Memphis, Mo and they will set you up with the one you need for your application. A half a bazillion other racers use your style set-up, I don't know why it won't work on your car. Good luck.


PS--- Have you fired your carb man, yet?

i beleive that they make more than one mech pump some have 15 psi and some have less if you have the one with less pressure you might be able to get away with the diaphram bypass.
