Hey guys I know this is the modified forum, but I was hoping you could help. I have a limited late model with a mono leaf/coil over rear suspension. Here is the problem the car is great on a good fast track, but when it dries up and slicks over we cannot get through the miidle of the corner or off the corner with out the rear end kicking out really bad. Driver says he cannot apply full throttle until he is completely out of turns and partially on the straight. Rear springs are RR 175, LR 125, Have a spring loaded pull bar with a 900lb spring. Could putting in a lighter pull bar spring help.

You might want to try switching those rears, should tighten you up a bit on the throttle.

OOPS,

Sorry my fingers got ahead of my brain.

Correct rear springs RR 125, LR 175. Shocks RR 95, LR 93/5

How are the mono's in the car?? are the fronts closer together then the rear of the springs???? I know lots of guys take a stack leaf car and convert them.....if this is the case you don't have enough angle in the mono leafs to keep the side bite in the car. The springs bow and realy upset the chassis. You can add a pan bar to keep the rear centered in the chassis and this will help with side bite.

To change the rear roll center you need lowering blocks between the rear housing and the mono leaf.........I haven't run that leaf/coil deal in a few years.....and have forgotten most of what I knew......we ran a 5 inch arch spring on one side (left I believe) then a seven inch arch on the other side (right I believe) this allowed us to run a 1 inch lowering block on the left rear and a 3 inch block on the right rear to keep the car level without putting load into the mono springs.........this was done to move and lower the roll center......

I wish I could remember which side we put the tall arch spring in........if I'm wrong someone is always quick to correct my mistakes.........or maybe someone will agree with what I said??????

Thanks for the info. I am not sure if the car was originally a multi leaf car or not, as I am not the first owner. I do know the previous ran it both way (mono and multi leaf). The front mounting positions are not closer together than the rears, maybe this is our problem.

Other than adding the panhard bar do you have any other ideas.

also, how do you determine the rear roll center height on a mono leaf car.

Get rid of the monos all together and go with a stack leaf on the left and 4-bar on the right.You can then get rid of the pull ba, panhard and all the other unnessecary stuff under the rear.Simple to tune and easy to drive.

how do you set up the 4 bar on the right,what angle do you us,shocks etc.does it work good on dryslick.

spring behind on RR with shock in front.21 1/2 in bars top bar at about 15 deg to start. bottom bar will go into same hole as leaf spring was in on the frame.fully floated cage on RR, however spring needs to be mounted on housing and locked down
