ok here is a silly question.. I have to change the axle seal on my ford 9" and was just wondering since I have never had to do this before, is the hub held on with a snap ring or what.. it a GN floating readend.. Thanks for the help...

Floater hubs are held on with a nut and a lock ring similar to a front hub. You have to pry out 1-2 tangs on the lock ring which interlock on the nut before the nut will come off. Also some rearends have left and right hand threads on the nuts.

posted April 12, 2002 10:47 PM Mine has a left and right hand thread on my GN. Its not to bad to change one i have done it at the track when it was getting on the brakes.
