Somebody clear this up for me. Modifieds use one of three different lower a- arms. Either a camaro or nova rear steer, a chevelle , or a metric. Their may be others but these seem to be the ones that people use around here. What are the major differences and what is the advantage of one over the other?? My car uses the rear steer novas. They are a pain to find. Also what spindles does everyone use and why?

I will have to assume you have a small metric clip on your car. Because you unse the Nova lower A-frmaes.....

The differance between the older rear steer Nova and the Small metric A-frames is this

The Nova make them about 2 inches wider and moves the lower ball joint forward about the same 2 inches............this helps get rear percent........because most places have a rule about rear end to back of engine block being 72 inches.........The nova lowers move the wheels forward because the rules don't allow for moving the engine farther back..

And the rules are normally 108 minumum wheel base........the Nova lowers lengthen the wheel base about 2 you end up with a 110 inch wheel base....and about 3-4 percent MORE rear than if you used the stock metric lowers...........

man that sounds like a good way for more rear % , i knew it had a wider track but no idea it made the wb longer, thanks Jeff.

What year Novas have these lower control arms? Do you swap sides when you use these? Thanks!

67-69 Camaro......along with the 68-72 Nova
These were the same lowers, fit the Small metric front.......the front mount will need a little shim......About a 1/2 inch shim, The Nova/Camaro mount is a little narrow but with a small shim fit PERFECT.......

These are the same Wide front package you get from Flexy...........along with a Iroc drag link if you order the WHOLE PACKAGE...

You will also need to swap them side for side......put the Camaro/Nova left side on the right side of your metric, and right side on left........Camaro/Nova were rear steer...........metrics are front steer....You can't fit them on backwards...nothing would line up.....but if you tried to keep them correct side for side you may need to ask this question.....

So for a guy doing this for the first time I will try and give as much information as I can.......

These Nova lowers help rear percent, But the mess up the steering geometry at the same time..........if you can move the idler and steering box forward to keep the angles of the tie-rods about the smae as they are now.

If you don't move the stuff forward the angles of the tie-rods will create goofy ackerman, and bumpsteer numbers......

Racing is about trade offs.........which end of the car do you want to work??????

cool thanks jeff. this is the info i was looking for. the driver of the car i help out was talking about this earlier but our only question is do these lower control arms work on a mid-size standard frames.

Where can I buy lower a-arms of the Nova-Camero variety? Is there a source other than junk yards? Is anyone reproducing them? Thanks.

To my knowledge nobody is remaking the nova lower a arms . i have a few sets i may consider selling.
