Can you run aftermarket steel heads?

On a stock 302 with two barrel and cast intake, I would say these heads are worth 30 horsepower over stock 302 heads. These are the best stock heads you can get. (with the exception of the cleveland head) If you can though (it's starting to sound like a cliche) you need to run the N 351 heads. These have the most bang for the buck. Other than that, the gt-40p's will about equal with the Chevy heads for power. What they lose in flow to the chevy's, they make up with smaller chambers and somewhat better flame propogation. If you haven't already, there are a lot of previous posts about these heads that would be well worth your time to check out. The title has gt-40p in it.

I have the gt-40 eads now on my 351w and I gained 15 hp over a ported & flowed pair of 69 l shaped 351w heads. I think the valve train is much stronger on the gt-40 head than the 351w head. take the info for what it's worth.

Angle mill a set of 69 heads and then compare. The valve train on gt40 heads is pretty much the same as all small blocks, The n351 on the other hand has a different configuration.
