I just bought a tire hardness guage and a temp guage for tires. What should I look for on the temp guage and also on the hardness guage. Both are new to me and, I feel, an important item for tuning the handling? Where I race they have us using hoosier tires.

Use pyrometer (tire temp gauge) to read you're tire temps after you come off track.I always start on the right front then rr;lr;lf.Take your temps in three spots outside edge; middle; inside edge.Write these down in the order you take them.Go to the toolbox section on this page and use the tire temp analyzer.I think you'll find this very helpful in dialing in you're car.We shoot our's after every trip to the track practice laps; heat races and feature races.Hollere if i can help you in anyway.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know the forum had a page for analyzing that kind of info. what about the tire durometer? I guess I should just check the tires and watch what the tires do as they get ran more and more. I realize they will get harder, but at what point should I stop using them and get new ones?

On the tire durometer we seldom used ours except when ran late model and had to run 55 or harder tires by the rules.Take your tires and clean them real good every week and treat them with a good conditioner it really helps. We were beating guys every week with tires that were 2 yrs old.
