If so where are they locating the transponders on the Mods?

Will they be going to that at the grove? There was talk a few years ago about doing this but with the cost of $300 per racecar for the transponder. We have the rules meeting on the 16 so ill let ya know if they are talking about it up this way again.

We run them on our South West Series Cars when we run with the Cup or Busch cars. Locate them on the right rear frame rail, where it kicks up behind the tire. Never had a problem, they work great, but Nascar still requires a scorer be used as back up.

We run transponders at Houston (HRP) we are to mount them 6" behind the motorplate, they also have to be 12" off the ground. most guy are mouning them on the wall between the driver and trans. (no metal is allowed between them and the ground). On the plus side the lap times are mailed to us each week, and the accuracy of who finished where is great. The lineing up after a yellow currently takes too long. but HRP said they are working on that. We'll see.

Not sure if your interested but i remember looking at a web site that advertises lap scoring kit, it was www.a-metrics.com, look under race management systems. The transponders are resonably priced at about $160 i think but i don't know how good it is as i don't know anyone that has used it.Hope this might help.
Marty.

Knoxville Iowa uses them for all there races, someones whose been to a Harris Clash should be able to tell about them, The electronic score board that they use with them is really neat tell lap times time between cars and give complete run down of running order in real time
