I am looking for a short block to run in my ump mod for next year. I bought the car complete last year with a 406 flat top pistons with steel 461 heads on alky. Run a 5.43 gear on a high banked 1/4 dirt track that was dry slick most of the year. Turned 5700 to 6000 rpm. were going to change the gear up to a 5.67 and try to get the rpm up a little. 6800 to 7000. I have been looking at the JR motorsports shortblocks and was wondering if anyone used them and had any feedback. were also going to bore last years engine .40 over and rebuild it as a back up.
Thanks

Just wanted to let you know......changing your gear from 5.43 to a 5.67 will probably only gain you 250-350 rpm max. A 5.83 should gain about 500-600 rpm's over the 5.43.
