Has anyone tried the 16 volt batteries that I have seen advertised? Success or Stress.

They work pretty good. Starts the car great, and with a HEI ignition it seemed to be more responsive. A HEI is set up to run on 14+ volts. Even with the 16 volt battery drained it has 14 volts available (atleast thats what thier literature claimed). I would recommend using it or putting on an alternator.

IMCA mod rules say 12 volt only.

I read the rules for the purpose of adding a second battery to run everything except the msd. The rules states 1 12 volt battery. The way I read it is that you could only have 1 12 volt but does not say only 1 battery period just 1 12 volt. Just my interpretation of the rules

Try that interpretation on Tom Herbert and see what he says. (I've run various voltages and two batteries myself but not in a mod anymore. I agree with ss6m's statement about HEI's.)
