I was wandering what a good starting angle for a j-bar is, how far from floor to heim end on pinion side, how far to floor to heim end on chassis side?

last year i had it set 17" off floor on chassis side, 8 1/2" off floor on pinion side, the car wouldnt turn like this, had to lower the chassis side (push rearend to the right) so far the driveshaft yoke would hit the j-bar and gouged it

the proper angle for a j-bar is in the trash
runn a short panhard bar then you chasis will hick-up

2 fast for you....what is the proper angle for the short bar cause i wasted about a month last season messin with it..we run a dw7, put the dog leg in the bottom rail, extended the shock and spring mounts and tried it at 5 inches of rake and level..was good on the tacky but sucked out loud on the dry slick stuff..tried tighter setup, bunch of stuff, ended up going back to the jbar..thanks..

i run the short bar center at the pinion and
about 5 inches of rack
some note i chased a problem for a month also the poblem was it was hiking up so much it would hit the under slug and it was unloading the left rear on exit. i had to notch the under slug. good luck

we did that..any other thoughts? also, im thinking of trying a different setup..750lf maybe a 650rf and put about a 250 or 275 lr spring..its a four bar, my thought is that it will roll up on the right front more, indexing the lr birdcage more and with the stiffer lr spring try to push up on the chassis more thus more bite..good idea or totally out to lunch? thanx

dirtracr Why don't you try puting the shock upside down? or maybe, find a way to put a spacer in the spring to lift it up 2 inches from the floor? Never tried it, but I believe it would produce similar effects, I have no idea if it's even possible. Just another dumb idea from a blond.
From my experience you never want the J-BAR above the pinion and you don't want extreme angle either way.

No such answer to this question. CGH, springs, setup, offsets, blah, blah, blah, What you have to do is find enough angle and height along with the total set up, that allows enough sidebite to stick it, without compromising forward bite, being able to get it in the corner, through the corner, off the corner. There is not one single answer, or any car or driving style alike.
