On the main frame rails of a chassis ,, Is there an advantage of round tube or square tube ???? Or is there any difference ?? Thanks for any help .

posted December 02, 2001 05:46 PM The round to square scenario just welds the tub flat where the round to round scenario welds around the tubing when it is notched. I know that many moly cars are built with round because there are less stress cracks because of the radius weld. This would have to mean that it is stronger.

I don't think so really. I think over time a 2" square car will flex less. That is why the older GRT latemodels that are square tube are still straight. Round tubes for insance Dirt Works cars tend to bow and wear out quicker in my oppinion.
