We have been possibly looking at putting a closed practice session together for all the members of The Dirt Forum at a mid-Missouri track somewhere. Why Missouri? Centrally located. My question is how many of you would be interested in participating in a get together?

I'm located in central MO. I have been getting the word out about your site. I think it would be great to have a get together. It would give racers a chance to see what other racers are running in different parts of the country. The local track in mid-mo is Capital Speedway. Check'em out at www.capitalspeedway.com

I have already contacted Capital...For one thing, that track will not allow multiple cars on it at the same time and two they are just entirely too expensive for a 4 hour run. They were not willing to work with us on it either. Sooooo....We have found another track just south of it a few miles(Dallas County). The owner was willing to let us have it for the day at a 20$ fee for each car. You can bring as many people with you as you like, you only pay for the car. But, this session would be a closed session to Registered Dirt Forum Users ONLY. We would like this to be something that we can all meet each other, have a good time and learn. We have not decided on a date yet, simply because we wanted to see if there was enough interest in doing so. Please email me and let me know if your interested, or post here.

I have had a lot of fun at Urbana(Dallas County Speedway). The owner of the track (Bill Allen) is just a good ole'boy. It is a bullring style, low-bank,1/4 mile clay track. There is enough pit for probably 150 cars. In our Street Stocks we ran anywhere from 6.20 to 6.80 gear. I don't know what that would translate into for Mod. Good track if you want to try a dry slick set up, especially if it is in the daytime. If there is much of a car count, it will take rubber pretty quick. It would be great to get to meet everybody! Jammin, I can send you video of the track if you would like to check it out.

Bill told me a 5.83 or 6.00 would be right on the nose. He was really a good guy and was going to help us out a lot to do this. I hope we can set it up in a month or 2 for everyone. I really enjoyed talking to Bill.

Jammin, I think this would be a great thing to get done. I would love to come and meet some of the people I've helped and thank the people that have helped me. And eveyone knows a thank you in person is much more.........well personal.

I wouldn't bring a car, I destroyed the car last night out, and won't have my new car finished before spring. BUT, I would be the head chef on the BBQ. I also think this would help people like Jerry and Richard, get the season started off the right way with the people they will be working with next season.........also, for a fee, to cover fuel, tires, and where and tear, these builders could bring a car or two for the other racers to HOT LAP..........then if we get enough people involved, we could rent a banquet room at a local motel and have a little chassis talk, ran by the builders mentioned above. I'm not trying to run this for you, I was just throwing things out there for you.....

Hey snap! I live about 30 min. From the track. I could give you info on places to stay. There isn't a whole lot of motel/hotels in that area, unless you stay at the Lake of the Ozarks(about 45 min away). But I will be glad to help find you some places closer. It would be great to see you guys again!

Jammin this is a great idea. Also if i can have another sugestion you might see if you can get a date set up for wheatland raceway for like the same weekend. Its a 3/8 low bank and the owner (Ron Jenkins) is a really nice guy and the track is getting to be one of the best around. Just an idea. I have ran at Dallas County and I run a 5.43 but it all depends on the rpms you want. Bill Allen is a good guy also and this would be a good thing,I hope to bring mods back to his track!

Sounds interesting. Exactly what town is the track in so I can figure out how far it would be for me(tulsa OK). Have you considered a source for fuel to be at the track. I dont have enough fuel jugs to keep the car full for a day of testing. I am interested in hearing more details.

Jammin, I would go if it was at Wheatland. The track is a LONG 3/8, has wide straights, long turns, no inside walls, and a large pit area. It has 12 degree banking. I would bet that most cars are set up for that kind of track. The dirt is not red clay. It is more like the tracks up north. The track at Urbana is flat.

Jammin, I only have a small gas grill and a weber.......I would be willing to pay for a local rent-all company to bring out a pull behind grill for us to use for the day.

We could also look into renting a tent to be set-up on site, this would provide a place for everyone to sit and chat, instead of eveyone hanging out at their own trailers.

can you give us a little more information on a date......at least a month you wish to plan for???????/

I will be glad to share the cooking duties with mongo21, that way if the foods good I take the credit........if the foods not so good mongo21 gets the blame.........LOL

Everyone ok with that? I am currently looking at all options for food also.....not sure yet on how we are going to work it, but I am not so sure about letting you barbeque, your way too enthusiastic about it. he he

Tom, if you got the right chassis builder to build you a car, you could be ready. Sorry. This is gonna be an off season practice, I know I can't have a practice that everyone will be able to attend, but we are still working on getting it together for around that time.

I know eveyone is going to have to pitch in some work or money to make this thing happen, I thought if I volenteer early I get the best job.........

Guess I'll have to pass. That's too late (or too early) in the year to be able to make. I'll have the racecar torn down for winter maint by then, and won't have it back together that early.

Besides, practicing on a 1/4 mile flat doesn't do me much good. I race on 1/4 and 3/8 mile (Boone) banked tracks.

Nice idea tho...

Jammin if this falls apart or you decide to try and do this again in the spring. Try Montgomery Speedway in Montgomery co. MO.
This is a brand new track and the owner is real good to work with. The track is about 1 hour west of St.Louis about 2min off hiway 70. Its a real nice high banked 1/4 mile.

Give it some thought
