I have a latemodel style Bert transmission in which I may have burnt the clutches. It is barely moving in low and grinds (loudly) in reverse until it locks up (stops moving).

Having purchased the trans used I was fortunate to get the 'manual' with it. The overhaul section has lots of nice pictures, but is short on specifications.

Anyone have the numbers for acceptable clearances for the clutch packs, shaft end play, etc.

Any recommendations on a Bert parts resaler or an authorized Bert rebuilder (close to Dallas, Tx area would be perfect).

Your input is greatly appreciated!

Is it you Marty? If it is check with Troy he's still a Kosiski dealer and I think Kosiski still sells those transmissions.

Thanks RJS,

This isn't Marty :> )

I checked the KosiskiRacing web site last night. It mentions that they offer Bert replacement parts.

I called them to get Troy's contact info. He doesn't offer parts or rebuild them, but did mention that for around $120 plus shipping that Bert would go through the trans ->

If you can ship it to Bert and back, and they will do it for $120 plus the shipping let them do it. Especially if you are unsure about the clearances and all. Any manufacturer knows what to look for in the rebuilding of their products, and will give you a better job.

Bert is a fair guy, and if you call him he may be able to send you to someone closer that is more convenient for you to get the work done too.

If you talk to him tell him the LAYNE guys referred you and he can buy the sodas at Syracuse...Mike
