17j, are you planning on running Britt? I would say for long term durability and competitiveness I would get the proper rrear gear and transmision. I ran Britt in a b-mod this year, if you have any questions I would be happy to answer them.

yes 79 i plan on britt and maybe webster now and then to get some seat time. my job might be moving tho so then i would run algona and alta it's still very tentitive yet wether i buy this car or not but i'll be there in my econo if not. i have access to a powerglide also could go that way but just was looking at running what i have on hand now.i'm just looking to have some fun in a mod i'm tired of getting torn up all the time in econos

regardless of what you run for a trans, it needs to be run in high gear. This requires the correct rear gear though. Running in any gear other than high, causes significant power loss as you running a double gear reduction. Automatics also build heat and decrease longevity run long term in low.

17j, I ran a 5.83 gear. Depending on how much your car weighs and how well it hooks up is a big factor, I have a light car and I turned 7200 to 7500 with it. But the popular gear is either a 5.67 or 5.83 at Britt

funny you should mention about running a trans in anything but high gear...i had a 4spd i ran in 3rd in a hot stock type car for 2 years never had a problem...i also had a powerglide i ran in low 1.82 with a 4.30 ring and pinion that i ran for a whole season without even changing the fluid in it....never a problem...i went to mods and had a powerglide built to run in high..and blew it up 3 times!!! now i have a brinn...problem solved...lol.
